STEM Ambassadors at W5 would really appreciate any help you can give on their Ultimate Farming/Agri Engineering event. They are offering FREE Public Engagement Training for Engineers to get you started! The Education Team at W5 has received funding from the Royal Academy of Engineering for a programme called Ultimate Farming. This is open to all engineers but especially those with some connection to agriculture and farming. Its aim is to showcase the range of engineering and innovation behind the technology used in agriculture and farming today.
As part of the programme we are offering a full day of training in public engagement for engineers AND students of engineering. For those that wish, there will also be further opportunities to become involved by visiting schools and talking about your work and study. The focus of the training is:
- Professional development for engineers and students – improving public engagement and presentation skills.
- Helping engineers communicate their role to a wider public.
The training day is scheduled for Friday 10 Oct. 9am – 5pm at W5. This will include a range of practical, hands-on and fun activities to help participants gain experience in public engagement and science communication.
Following the training participants will have the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice by visiting schools and sharing their experiences of engineering.
Note: if not already members, participants must sign up to the STEM Ambassador programme at W5. This is simple and can be done during training.
